Loading... Please wait...Niner Air 9 Carbon Single Speed Build
|
This custom setup would make any single speeder envious! We decided to build a light SS that could easily be converted back to a geared setup. With the Niner Air 9 Carbon frame, this can easily be achieved. First was the wheel choice: custom Stan’s NoTubes ZTR Crest wheels were selected because they could be designed to match the bike and are lightweight and affordable! Tough to beat. |

Needing a light fork to complement the build and smooth out the ride we turned to the Rock Shox Reba XX 29er with the remote hydraulic lockout. Of course, we couldn’t let the cockpit weigh us down so we chose the ENVE Composites carbon riser bar, seatpost, and stem. Not only would this choice be light but super strong. For the crank, we found ourselves somewhat limited in choices for super lightweight and compatible options. We decided to use a SRAM X0 crank because it’s carbon and the spider can be removed. This way we could select the appropriate chainring and have one of the lightest combinations on the market. We are big fans of Homebrewed Components, they make a custom anodized red 32t chainring that is truly a work of art. This was matched up with a Niner rear cog. Last but not least, the saddle. The customer new what he wanted and that was the Selle Italia SLR carbon. All-in the rig weighs 20 lbs! Not bad for a do all 29” single speed! |
